Social Services Dir. at CHF Southport will represent the Southwest Region of Long-term care Social Workers on June 19, 2007.
Friday, June 15th, 2007Greetings Everyone!!
Iam proud to announce that Eileen Armstrong, Dir. of Social Services at CT Health of Southport, has been selected by our Long-Term Care Regional Ombudsman Kim Massey to represent the Southwest Region of Long Term Care Social Workers!!. On June 19, 2007 at Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, there will be the first planning session “on the development of Aging and Disabilities Resource Centers (ADRC) in Connecticut. ADRC’s are part of President Bush’s New Freedom and Long-Term Care Re-Balancing Initiatives, which aim to prevent barriers to community living for persons with disabilities of all ages and to reduce the institutional bias that currently exists in the delivery of long-term care services. These centers create a coordinated system of information and access to long-term support services for persons of all ages. In attendance will be an array of representatives from the Administration on Aging, ADRC Technical Assistance Exchange and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, members of the aging and disability networks, representatives from the State Medicaid program, Independant Living Centers and Infoline.” The hope is that individuals with all types of disabilities will be able to use there Medicaid benefit to live in the community, and delay institutionalization. It is an exciting time!!. Each Ombudsman was asked to select one social worker from their Region to attend, and Ms. Armstrong has been selected as one of the three Nursing Home Social Workers in CT to attend this event. A great honor indeed!!!
